Overview

Metapsim (met-op-seem), or ‘Climbers,’ our 5th – 6th grade campers, are ready to take on new adventures as they emerge as young leaders. In this full 14- or 19-day session, campers unlock the full range of camp experiences, from their first mountain biking adventure to leading Shabbat services or embarking on a horseback trail ride. A key part of the Metapsim program is the focus the value Hakh’lalla (Inclusion), which guides everything from activities to cabin life, encouraging campers to embrace and celebrate their differences while building a strong sense of community. Metapsim campers also get to experience a more rugged campout at the special Metapsim Spot, spending a magical night under the stars and possibly spotting the Milky Way!

All Metapsim campers have the option to choose a specialty camp—Equestrian or Outdoor Adventure—or stick with the traditional program. This is a time for campers to challenge themselves, make lasting friendships, and continue growing as part of the Ranch Camp family.

These campers stay for the full duration of each session in Ranch Camps bunks and leave with a whole new network of friends who feel like family. Have a 5th grader that isn’t quite ready for a full session?  Check out ShaiVenture!

Specialty Camps

Once children reach the Metapsim Unit, they can engage in a bit of activity specialization.

Campers in Specialty Camps will continue to live in cabins with their peers, with the bonus of attending day-programming with others who have similar interests. While these campers will still attend theme days, evening programs, and other traditional camp activities, their day-to-day experience will be more focused on their chosen area of specialty.

Daily Life as a Metapsim Camper

No matter what program Metapsim campers choose, their days are guaranteed to be action-packed. Campers in the traditional program will rotate through scheduled activities every morning, to participate in each activity 2-3 times, whereas Specialty Camp attendees will spend the mornings diving into their specialty programming’s activities.

Those who opt out of our Specialty Programs will partake in our traditional program, where they will rotate through all of Ranch Camp’s activities. From arts and crafts to sports, and from pool time to ropes course, the traditional program offers a little something for everyone.
